Madrid Barajas (MAD) is Spain's largest airport and one of Europe's most-connected — 236+ non-stop destinations, with unusually strong connectivity to Latin America. It's Iberia's main hub and a major oneworld connection point.
Why MAD matters
Latin America. Iberia and other Spanish carriers operate one of the most extensive networks between Europe and Central/South America, often as the only direct option from Western Europe to certain cities. For routing between Northern Europe and Latin America, MAD is frequently more efficient than alternatives in Paris, London, or Amsterdam.
Terminals
- Terminal 4 — Iberia and oneworld partners. The flagship long-haul terminal.
- Terminals 1, 2, 3 — Other carriers, including most low-cost European operators and a mix of international airlines.
Connection reality
T4 is large but well-laid-out. T4S (the satellite) handles most long-haul wide-body flights and is connected to T4 by an automated underground train. Allow 60 minutes for same-terminal Iberia connections, 90 minutes for terminal-change connections.
